New Year! A Pictureless Post

Greetings all! Christmas has come and gone already! We finally completed all of our holiday shopping the day before Christmas Eve. We had Christmas with my dad and his wife that evening. My dad made vegetable soup and then we gathered around the tree and opened our gifts. It has changed a lot since my dad's wife came into the picture. This year was our first Christmas with my sweet baby niece around :) She is so beautiful and wonderful!

Christmas Eve is always spent at my Grandma's house. That morning was a little hectic - we had to pack and get everything ready to go for our Christmas celebrations the next 2 days and also for our week long trip to North Carolina. We had breakfast with Ryan's family at Cracker Barrel at 8:30 a.m. - which meant an early morning for us, we needed to leave by 7. At my Grandma's, we ate, opened gifts, played our traditional Christmas Bingo, then we also played Plinko this year - just like on the Price is Right! My grandpa and aunt built the game from scratch and then we had cool prices like Zero bars, whoppers, kisses, and lottery tickets! It was a blast! During Christmas Bingo, I won an envelope of lottery tickets and ended up racking up $35! Santa came by as is tradition, then we packed up everything and headed to Ryan's parents' house. We got comfortable and then we all gathered around to open up 1 gift each - tradition at their house. We rounded out the night with a game of Monopoly - I lost :(

Christmas morning we were awakened bright and early by Ryan's parents. Ryan's dad made me hot chocolate as is tradition and then we sat down to open gifts. Ryan and I got a new digital camera thank goodness! It is sooo nice! Hopefully it will motivate me to take more photos! I got a cashmere Coach scarf which I love! Along with some new Uggs which I also adore! Those were my favorites! Later, we headed to Ryan's great aunt's for some dirty Santa :) My favorite! We knew that there were 2 gift bags that included 10 lottery tickets each and Ryan and I tried to go for those because we needed the money! We ended up with them and $33! Later, we stopped by my grandma's house to say hello and then went to Ryan's aunt and uncle's to watch the Cowboys game. In the middle of the game I had to leave to drop Molly off at my dad's, where she was staying while we were in North Carolina.

Sunday the 26th, we woke up bright and early to leave for North Carolina. We left at 4:45. First, we stopped by to pick up Nathan, who we were staying with - he had come home to his parents' house for Christmas. The drive wasn't too bad, we only ran into a couple of snowstorms. I ended up driving for 7 hours! We were there at about 5:30. We freshened up and headed out to dinner, then spent the rest of the evening relaxing. Over the next week, we took many walks on the beach, ate at many great restaurants, and slept really well :). One day we attemped clamming - we researched how to do it online, watching videos and reading tips. We only came out with 2 but it was a lot of fun! On New Years day, we went out to the beach bright and early and saw about 30 dolphins. They were only about 15 feet from the shore - all headed the same direction and taking their sweet time. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life! Ryan decided that day that he wanted to leave at 10:00 p.m. that evening, so I was sure to take a nap. I started out driving and drove until 6:00 a.m.! I was exhausted! We stopped and picked up Molly and then headed home. After we got home, I took a short nap and showered then we headed to Ryan's friends' home to watch some football. We had a blast, but I was beyond exhausted. I went to sleep that night at 9 and slept until 9:30 the next morning! We have been spending the last couple of days cleaning up, putting away Christmas gifts, cleaning out our closet for Goodwill, and relaxing. I am back at work tonight. I will post pictures from our trip soon - I promise! Have a good night!
