Bad Blogger

So, initially, I started this blog so I could look back at my life and try to semi-remember things. It would help if I would blog more than once a month. I think I will get better at this when we buy a house and  are working on decorating and then starting a family. Until then, I'll just try to keep up. Since I last blogged, I have been busy as a bee!

Work
In early March, I had my first job interview for an RN position for after graduation. It was on our Ortho-Neuro unit (think strokes and joint replacements). I was offered the job a couple of weeks later, but asked them to hold it for me while I talked to the director of my unit. I called and she said she would post a position on Pediatrics and to apply for it as soon as it was posted. I did, the next day they called me to schedule an interview :) I interviewed that Friday and was offered the job on Wednesday! So, I will be an RN on the pediatrics unit at IU Health Bloomington when I graduate! I am so relieved as nursing jobs are very hard to come by right now. It is also a big weight lifted off of my chest.

School
At the end of March, I started my capstone, which is the last thing we do in nursing school. We are paired with a nurse on a unit we select (ordered by random drawing) and we work their shift, schedule with them for 112 hours. I was 37th to choose, but somehow still ended up with my first pick, Special Care Nursery on nightshift. It was an amazing experience, and I saw a lot of interesting, heart-wrenching things. It was a fantastic learning experience. This past week, I wrapped up my undergraduate career, which is incredibly weird! 5 years has flown by! I had an abstract due Tuesday, a presentation on Thursday, attended Senior Salute on Thursday (a graduation party on campus that the Alumni Association hosts with free food and goodies!), then last night I went to our nursing semi-formal/graduation party. It is strange to think that 1 week from today I will be a college graduate! There were many times that I didn't think I would make it through! I am working the next 4 nights, have some festivities to attend this week, then graduate on Saturday!

Life
My neice has been getting so much bigger! She has 2 bottom teeth now and is working on a couple on the top! She is so bright-eyed and loves her aunt (all those 'dates' with her have paid off!). At Easter, she was all about offering to share her pacifier with me :) This past week, we had dinner at my dad's house, and as soon as she saw me, she smiled - it makes me feel so good! I don't have any pictures to post right now, but will try to post some soon. Not too much has happened besides those things. However, I did record the royal wedding, but wasn't crazy into it...now that I have watched it, I have become a bit obsessed. It was so neat to watch all of the traditions for a royal ceremony and it was so beautiful. I have always admired William and Harry for not changing after their mother died - I think she would be very proud of the men they are now. And I think Kate is so beautiful. I hope they are able to live a happy live - unspoiled by the media! I think that is all for now - I am looking forward to graduation, hopefully buying a home, and going back to Jamaica in November!
